About COCA

The Central Oregon Center for the Arts is a visionary project built on years of dedication, collaboration and community input. What began as an inspired idea to give Central Oregon a true home for the arts has evolved into a careful, professionally guided, community-driven movement to bring that dream to life.

From the very beginning, the COCA Board of Directors has approached this project with thoughtful planning and organization. Our progress has been steady and strategic and continues to be informed by research, community feedback and expert guidance. Every phase has been designed to ensure that the Center reflects not just a vision for the arts, but a reflection of the people, values and culture of Central Oregon.

COCA will be a place where local arts organizations can thrive, where visitors can experience the power of creativity, and where generations can gather to celebrate the beauty and diversity of artistic expression.

A Vision Years in the Making

COCA was inspired by a collective desire among local artists, leaders and community members to create a modern, accessible and professional venue that could meet the region’s growing cultural needs.

COCA has worked to build relationships, listen deeply and plan carefully, ensuring that each step forward honors the needs and voices of the Central Oregon community. Through extensive research and partnerships, the organization has developed a roadmap that prioritizes sustainability, inclusiveness and long-term impact.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Central Oregon Center for the Arts is to champion an inclusive, vibrant center for the arts that brings transformative performances and diverse cultural experiences to Central Oregon.

Our Commitment to Cultural Equity

COCA is committed to creating a welcoming, sustainable and inclusive facility that represents the full spectrum of our community. Collaboration and partnership are essential to our mission because we believe that when everyone has access to the arts, creativity flourishes and communities thrive.

We embrace a broad understanding of equity, ensuring that people of all backgrounds, across race, age, ability, gender, identity and circumstance, are represented, supported and celebrated.

Our Progress

Phase 1: Community Needs Assessment – Completed (2022)
In partnership with the Arts Consulting Group, COCA conducted a feasibility study to identify community needs and test the concept. The results were clear: There is strong regional demand and broad community support for a multidisciplinary performing and visual arts center in Bend.

Phase 2: Facility Modeling & Site Evaluation – Now under way (Completion early 2026)
COCA engaged with leading consultants to define what a right-sized facility for Central Oregon should look like. This phase included detailed studies of potential sites and the development of operational and financial models to ensure long-term sustainability.
As interest in the project grew, COCA expanded its site evaluation to include potential locations and partnerships, demonstrating flexibility and commitment to finding the best fit for the community’s needs and future growth.

Phase 3: Coming Soon!
